Recognised Kashrus Authorities

The following Australian and overseas logos and symbols on food products are recognised by Kosher Australia as reliable, although the final responsibility for certification rests on the organisation concerned. This list is in accordance with information from reliable, international sources as well as Kosher Australia policy which on the whole recommends orthodox organisations led by Rabbonim with proven reliable and normative expertise in the field of Kashrus. However, the list is not absolute and the absence of any kosher logo or symbol from this list does not necessarily mean that the product so endorsed is not acceptable to Kosher Australia standards. All enquiries may be addressed to the Kosher Australia office as per Contact Us.

Many of these authorities certify dairy products which are not Cholov Yisroel, i.e. not of Mehadrin standard. Others supervise baked goods which may be Pas Palter, i.e. baked by non-Jewish bakeries. As a rule, the product requires the words Cholov Yisrael or Pas Yisrael to be included next to the Kosher symbol in order for it to be accepted as such.

Note that a product labelled with the letter 'K' by itself or the word 'Kosher' without a Kosher symbol, cannot be accepted as a reliable kosher endorsement as the absence of the supervising authority's identity leads to serious questions regarding the authenticity and reliability of any such symbol or marking.

Reliable Kosher Agencies (not for Pesach use)

Kosher Certification agencies listed on this website are acceptable only when they appear on products. Informal approval given to individual products needs to be assessed on an individual product basis. Some agencies listed follow Sephardic customs for Pesach while others may allow modified Kitniyos products. Please consult the Kosher Australia Passover Guide for the recommended Pesach agencies.
